Viz A Viz

On a one week project I needed to show how "Culture is the reflection of design" and "Design is the reflection of culture" Utilizing materials I found while dumpster-diving I designed a game similar to "Memory" featuring typography, where cards would match not depending on the typeface (say, san serif), but instead the year the typeface was created, who created it, and why or when it was created (e.g. for the phone book, or during World War II). I also included something our instructors continuously brought up...our typos—the one typo I included was noticed by only one person.

Liking how the one-week assignment turned out, I decided to expand on it as an independent project. This time I designed the game with fine art photography as the subject. One card displays the photograph, the year it was taken and the photographer. The matching card shows events that relate thematically to the respective photograph.
